About Us

Boy Scout Troop 606 was chartered in August of 2005, with the purpose of providing a Boy-led troop for cub scouts fo Pack 606 and the surrounding area.  The Troop has grown from 3 10-year old scouts to a current roster totaling over 60 scouts, including grades 5 through 12, as well as 2 Junior Assistant Scoutmasters.  Troop 606 uses the patrol method based primarily on age and has currently has 6 patrols (examples include the Flaming Aces Patrol, Hobo Patrol & Tye-Dyed Platypus Patrol).  The Troops goal is to develop young men to be leaders and examples in their community through teaching skills and attending activities.

The troop meets weekly from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in the Primary Gym and North Hills Prepatory, located at 606 E. Royal Lane, Irving.  The Troop maintains a year-round program consisting of weekly meetings and monthly activities/campouts.  We annually attend summer camp in June/July (we have attended summer camps at Camp Trevor Reese-Jones, Athens, TX; Camp Constantin, Possum Kingdom Lake, TX; Sid Richardson Scout Ranch, Bridgeport, TX; Camp Pioneer, Mena, AR; Camp Hale, Hale Scout Reservation, Talihana, OK); and winter camp in late December (Camp Preston Hunt, Texarkana, AR).  In addition we plan bi-annual outings to one of BSA's high adventure camps (Philmont, Sea Base or Northern Tier).

We have awarded 13 Eagles (including all 3 of our inaugural scouts) and have 10 more Life-Rank scouts working on project plans or need only their Boards of Review.  We maintain a Parent Committee that meets each month, as well as have quarterly Pot Luck Courts of Honor to celebrate rank advancement, Merit Badges and other special awards.  If you have are interested in joining us, please select "contact us" and an email will be sent to your Webmaster.

Yours in Scouting,
